Each year, Continental donates thousands of backpacks filled with school supplies to give children throughout the country a head start in school. Our employees are dedicated volunteers, ordering supplies, stuffing backpacks and coordinating deliveries to school districts.
Started by a Continental employee, Academic Challenge is a grade school program that encourages students to study hard, work in teams and tackle tough general knowledge questions in the subjects of English, Math, History, Social Studies and Science. Our employees run the competition each fall, coordinating with schools, serving as moderators and recognizing students for their success.
Continental donates heavily to research and education. From creating a petroleum engineering chair at Oklahoma State University to substantial donations to Enid Public Schools, the Harold Hamm Oklahoma Diabetes Center and the State Historical Society of North Dakota for the North Dakota Heritage Center’s Continental Resources Inspiration Gallery, the company focuses its major gifts in areas that create lifelong opportunities for learning.
Continental underwrites professional theatrical and musical performances, putting the arts within reach. Our employees serve on the boards of fine arts organizations, raising awareness and funding to improve access to art in schools.
A USATF-certified event, The Great Land Run is an annual fitness fundraiser commemorating the 1889 rush that founded the city of Enid, OK. Our employees partner with the Enid (OK) Running Club, organizing hundreds of runners and entry fees that are used to purchase technology like SMART Boards for public school classrooms.
Culminating with a competition each spring, the Science Adventure Club is designed to build a child’s confidence and nurture a love of all things scientific. Our science-skilled employees teach the club to middle school students throughout the fall and winter semesters.
Continental’s support for the United Way goes beyond the normal capital campaign. Through events like Mexican Fiesta, Chili Cook-Off, and special donate-to-participate days, our employees give generously throughout the year.
