Enid is the heart of Northwest Oklahoma and a wonderful place to live, raise a family and work. In 2006, Enid was recognized on ABC’s Good Morning America as one of the top five “Best Up and Coming Areas” in the United State. Affordable real estate, job growth and quality of life were highlighted on the program as reasons Enid was selected. Progressive Farmer magazine ranked Garfield County as the “8th best place to live in rural America” (2nd best place in the southwest region). Inc Magazine listed Enid as one of the top 25 small metro areas in America for doing business (cities 150,000 and under).
Enid’s educational facilities consist of one high school, three junior high schools, and ten elementary schools. Enid also offers an alternative school and an adult education center. As for private education, Enid has one high school combined with a junior high and seven elementary schools. There are six other public schools within Garfield County. Higher education includes Northwestern Oklahoma State University-Enid, Northern Oklahoma College and Autry Technology Center.
Entertainment and Shopping includes many large restaurants, a movie complex, Enid Symphony, Gaslight Theater, Enid Motor Speedway, Chisholm Trail Expo Center, Go Carts, Splash Zone Water Park and Leonardo's Discovery Warehouse. For you shopping needs, Enid offers a large historical downtown area, a mall and many shopping centers. If golf is your sport, we have two public golf courses and one private.
As the health care center in Northwest Oklahoma, Enid has two major hospital facilities, a freestanding ambulatory surgery center, and a freestanding mental health facility and a state facility that cares for the developmentally disabled. There are more than 150 physicians, optometrist, dentists, and medical professions serving the area. Enid has four retirement facilities, several nursing homes and is served by a full-time professional ambulance service.
Travel distance to Oklahoma City is 85 miles, to Tulsa 120 miles, to Dallas 299 miles, and to Wichita 123 miles.
